Q: What are Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin?
A: Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin are all botulinum neurotoxins, collectively known as BTX-A. These products have minor differences in their chemical forms.
A: Botox has the longest track record, while studies have shown that Xeomin and Dysport are equally safe and effective. Dysport is more diluted than Botox or Xeomin, making it spread across larger areas. Xeomin is "naked," containing fewer proteins.
A: The effects of all three treatments last for the same amount of time, typically three to six months.
A: Side effects include injection site pain, irritation, headache, dry eyes, blurry vision, and temporary bruising. Each injectable carries the same side effects as they all have the same active ingredient.
A: The choice between Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin often comes down to personal preference and the recommendation of a qualified professional. Discuss these options with your cosmetic physician to decide which one is best for you.
